This project consists of four parts:
- A general security paper discussing policies, cryptography, backups, integrity
management, auditing & logging, physical security, network security, security
incidents & countermeasures, denial of service attacks, what users need
to know about security, patches, and misconfigurations.
- A detailed step by step security guide for setting up Linux with an increased
level of security.
- A webpage that will feature the paper, the guide, links to references, information
about relevant online security resources, and necessary information to maintain
the paper and guide.
- An implementation of the concepts from the security paper and security
guide on a Linux production server.
This project is for systems administrators who are using or are intending to
use Linux in a production environment. The security paper is intended to bring
them up to speed in current security issues. The security guide is to guide
them in the process of security. The implemetation of the ideas presented in
the paper and guide is to demonstrate the effectiveness of good security practice.
